Careers

The Careers Adviser at Epping Boys' High School is Mr Kayes.  He is located in the office on the top floor of the library.  As he is also Acting Deputy Principal, he may often be located in A Block.  His role is to provide students with access to a range of career resources, activities and experiences that enable students to maximise their career development.

The Careers Office has a vast array of resources and material that may be utilised there or in some cases borrowed overnight.  These resources include software such as Jiig-cal and Career Central.  There are numerous videos, DVDs and CD Roms on a variety of vocational planning and preparation topics.  Printed information on universities, TAFE colleges, private course providers, specific vocational areas, overseas exchange programs and much more are available.

Students are able to participate in periods of Work Experience, attend Career Markets, vocational visits and attend guest lectures, both at school and elsewhere.  All students participate in career lessons, seminars and interviews at various times during their schooling.

Involvement in extra-curricular activities, both at school and away from school, is encouraged.  Whether this be sport, music, debating, drama, involvement in clubs or programs administered through the school such as Duke of Edinburgh and Streamwatch.  At weekends, involvement in sports, youth groups, structured organisations like Venturers, Army/Navy/Air Force cadet corps and participating in hobby and interest activities is also encouraged.
