Aboriginal Education Policy

Epping Boys' High School recognises the responsibility of schools to:

  • encourage equity such as enhances the likelihood of Aboriginal students to realise educational gains such as are currently enjoyed by students generally in the NSW educational system;
  • ensure all students are offered exposure to the richness and diversity of Aboriginal culture – traditional and contemporary – and an accurate and balanced account of Australian history in as much as it touches on Aboriginal society;
  • provide opportunities for students to appreciate – as best might be achieved at such as exists in a school geographically distant from direct contact with Aboriginal groups and issues – something of the justice of claims represented by Aboriginal groups across the nation.

Faculty Head Teachers are asked to ensure:

  • that policies and programs reflect current Aboriginal Education Policy;
  • inter-cultural understanding and respect underpin programs and teaching;
  • that resources used are appropriate and sensitive;
  • that programs have been developed with a view to encouraging positive and appropriate Aboriginal perspectives.
