Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

The Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) Faculty was formally created in 1996 with the appointment of a head teacher, Mr Bryce Grant.  The PDHPE faculty has a wealth of teaching experience with over 70 years of teaching PDHPE spread among the four full-time faculty members:  Mr Jim Bennett, Mr Bryce Grant, Mr Bob Masters and Miss Louise Brierty.

The faculty is well-resourced with an indoor gymnasium (basketball, volleyball, badminton courts) with a rock climbing wall, an operational weights room (Millamurra), two tennis courts, three outdoor basketball courts, soccer and rugby fields and two upgraded change room facilities.

PDHPE is a very dynamic area of study and as a faculty we are constantly aware of the need to appropriately resource, update and ensure that our teaching material is relevant to our students.  All our courses, mandatory and elective, provide the opportunity for all our students to enhance their well-being and personal development.  PDHPE not only contributes significantly to the cognitive, social, emotional, physical and spiritual development , but it also provides opportunities for students to learn about, and practice ways of, adopting and maintaining a healthy, productive and active life.  It involves students learning though movement experiences that are both challenging and enjoyable, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence in a variety of contexts.

PDHPE promotes the value of physical activity in their lives.
