French and German are offered as electives for study in Year 9 and 10.  A sufficient number of interested students is required before a class will be started.

Special consideration may be given to a student who, due to their family background, expresses an interest in studying their family language through the Open High School.  Each student's case is considered as to whether the criteria are met and whether the student has family support to assist with the demands of independent learning.  It is not to be assumed that any student requesting this course of study will automatically receive approval.
