Faculty News 2008

This is turning out to be a big year.  Students undertaking the IST course will appreciate its new structure.  We have reduced the number of units from  8 to 6 in an attempt to provide students with the time to develop their projects to  a much higher standard.  All the Units or work have been rewritten to make the projects more exciting for students and to provide students with choices.  These units now cater well for a full range of abilities including lower ability students and Gifted students. Students seemed to have settled in well this year.

IPT students in year 11 are also following a new program. I  led up a small team which rewrote the IPT syllabus for the Boar of Studies.  Significant changes were made to the syllabus to reinvigorate the course and make it more attractive for students.  There is now a greater emphasis on Information systems and project -based learning.  So far this year the IPT students seem to be enjoying what they are doing although I was a little disappointed at the number of students who elected the revamped course. Arguably we are in a better position than any other school to deliver this course with both Jenny Pledger and myself investing 100s of hours in rewriting the syllabus and drafting sample programs for the BOS.

Significant changes have been made to the IT course as well, and Vernon Shear has redesigned his teaching program to accommodate new competencies.  We are pleased to have a VET IT class again this year and are keen to promote IT.

On Tuesday 2nd September we are planning on having an evening to showcase student work.  Details will be available at a later date.

Students are reminded to keep backups of all work stored in their homefolders.  Home folders should contain a copy of all work completed during the course.

Students can now get access to all their course materials which are mounted on our webserver by clicking on the 'EBHS Intranet link '  on the Left

Students are reminded that they may not store games and music files in their homefolders.
